This paper studies the relationship between literature and ecology. It questions the assumptions that there is an objective external reality and explores the idea that there is a recurrent circular systemic relationship between ecology and literature. I argue that literary practices necessarily, due to the indigenous and also popular culture background of Latin American, bring forth a systemic circular or ecologic perspective on the relationship between man and nature. In fact this very same separation between nature and man tends to disappear. This paper provides textual examples based on two songs, La jardinera as well as Gracias a la vida, of the Chilean poet, songwriter, folklorist, dancer and painter Violeta Parra.
