dc.description.abstractDisclosed are compounds that inhibit calpains of formula I wherein X is NH, O or S and all other substituents are as described in the specification. The process for their production, and use in pharmaceutical compositions and in the treatment of prophylaxis of a disease or disorder resulting from excessive calpain activity is also disclosed.
