Item Open Access A residual strength approach for the fatigue analysis of welded components / Abir Ghosh.(1996) Ghosh, Abir; Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering; Dept. of Mechanical EngineeringThe main objective of this research is to develop a fundamentally new fatigue design and assessment procedure which can be used to predict the variation in crack size, strength and inspection periods as well as endurances. Basic fracture mechanics and fatigue procedures are used to illustrate this new technique.Item Open Access Predicting weld cooling rates and the onset of failure during in-service welding / Prakash N. Sabapathy.(2002) Sabapathy, Prakash Niranjan; Dept. of Mechanical EngineeringConcerns the specialized requirements of welding procedures used on operational gas pipelines.Item Open Access Understanding the influence of alloy aditions on microstructure and mechanical properties of weld metal from gas-shielded processes / by Vinay K. Tyagi.(2002) Tyagi, Vinay Kumar; Dept. of Mechanical EngineeringItem Open Access On the structure and mixing of a jet in crossflow : Ph.D. thesis / Philip Robert Edward Cutler.(2002) Cutler, Philip Robert Edward; Dept. of Mechanical EngineeringItem Open Access Intensity error sensing in the active control of free field sound radiation / Robert Keohler.(2001) Koehler, Robert; Dept. of Mechanical EngineeringThis thesis describes by theory and experiment, the effectiveness of an alternate error sensing strategy suitable for the control of general free field sound radiation problems, namely active intensity. In this research, active intensity error sensing has been rigorously analysed: 1. in the near and far field of the disturbance source; 2. to determine its ability to lead to global control via sound power attenuation; 3. in a real control system. The performance of active intensity error sensors were evaluated both analytically and experimentally in progressively more complex environments to identify their capabilities and limitations.Item Open Access Experimental investigation on the effects of chemical heat release in the reacting turbulent plane shear layer(1981) Wallace, Allan Kenneth; Dept. of Mechanical EngineeringItem Open Access Influence of error sensor and control source configuration and type upon the performance of active noise control systems / Anthony C.
